There Was Another Page XX. That's Not This One.

12.03.2009

Rassum Frassum

I owe 3 strips by the end of this weekend.

Finals and so on are pushing me back a bit.

Late, but not never.

11.28.2009

Holiday

So, I'm going to catch up on this one (three next week?) but I am entirely unable to scan in even the rudimentary (yes, by my already stellar standards) sketches I've got from where I'm currently at.

Enjoy your holiday and be getting back to it soon!

11.24.2009

Page XX Comic #48

It's funny because it is true. Painfully true.

Still, worth it I think!

11.20.2009

Page XX Comic #47

No, no. You lead. Just know I'll kill you both if you make me miss an event on my social calendar.

It was a bit late, and a bit more in-jokish than I've been in a while. Need to get a few strips ahead, methinks.

11.18.2009

Page XX Comic #46

'No, but seriously; your mom needs to get herself tested.'

Maybe your mom will find this one funny?

...maybe not.

11.13.2009

Page XX Comic #45

How far did I get during Family Law? In Stick Wars or Pandemic?

WARNING: Experience may not be universal.

Now... back to the paper.

Late

My first late post since I started the 2 a week schedule!

Sorry, my life has been mostly consumed by a large paper that's due next Monday. I will try to have a strip up tonight.

11.10.2009

Page XX Comic #44

No drannit way!'

Except when I do it, of course.

Here are some more... http://web.archive.org/web/20060519041424/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_curse_words

11.05.2009

Page XX Comic #43

Fifth Freedom, indeed.

Really, what did they expect?

11.03.2009

Page XX Comic #42

Could have been worse. Could have been Gully Dwarves.

Burn the place down, rebuild from scratch. It's the only way to be sure.

10.29.2009

Page XX Comic #41

OBVIOUSLY!

I still say "escalation" should have been one of the seven deadly sins. It's entertaining enough.

10.27.2009

Page XX Comic #40

You know you'd watch it.

New favorite show.

10.22.2009

Page XX Comic #39

Now she's going to Disney World!

This one's for the knitter! It's sure to be the next Olympic Sport!

Aside from being the inspiration for a character that makes for a fun occasional strip, one of the knitters I know has given me more feedback on these things than anyone else (good and bad) and she also just recently won an award for her knitting. Figured it was worth a nod. Congrats!

10.20.2009

Page XX Comic #38

Suuuure, an accident

Prototype, you're such gleefully destructive fun.

10.15.2009

Page XX Comic #37

The List: The Iron Giant, Old Yeller, and Jurassic Bark from Futurama. There are others on a case-by case basis, but these are always free passes.

I just have something in my eye.

10.13.2009

Page XX Comic #36

Really, it's just plain unprofessional.

Thank you, Doctor Who.

10.06.2009

Page XX Comic #34

'Wait! I can tell you're lying from those little lines coming off of your head!'

Really, it's not that hard.

Right?

9.29.2009

Page XX Comic #32

I should have this 1:1 scale model of the Great Barrier Reef done by the weekend!

There, colored the hair upon request!

And, in case you think I'm crazy, I may not know what I'm talking about but I didn't make it up.

9.24.2009

Page XX Comic #31

'Apparently being a post-human homosexual academic with a crush on your best friend in the 1920s got a little too lonely.' 'Really, my heart goes out to him.'

For the Aberrant and Adventure! fans. Check out Max's awesome mustache.

9.21.2009

New Method to Current Lack of Madness

I will be doing the strips twice a week now. I actually have the 30th strip done, but had no internet (alternating with 1995-speeds internet) most of last week and this weekend.

Obviously, though, with the return of pretty much daily responsibilities I can't keep the "one a day" pace up. Twice a week is not going to be nearly as cool as the first leg of this was, and I think I'll miss is more than anyone else.

Still, twice a week! I'm thinking they'll be done on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

9.15.2009

Slowed Down

So, the return of law school classes are putting a quick break on things, but I won't be so easily defeated.

Here's the plan; I will make it to at least #35 by the end of this week and figure out the rest from there. This might be the point where I slow down to one or two a week, but I really do need to keep going. No worries!

9.12.2009

Page XX Comic #29

Allen, this one's for you!

I didn't do the whole "twin brother" thing, but I did once play three characters in a row in the same session.

Page XX Comic #28

If anything, the scams seemed more sophisticated back then.

Seriously, not much has changed... even Mr. Hartzell just stole and altered a scam that two other guys had been pulling on him!

9.11.2009

Slight Delay

Two coming tomorrow.

9.10.2009

Page XX Comic #27

What, you don't want to here the 30-minute version of the Juan joke?

Personally, I love groaners but not everyone is as appreciative.

Here, watch Norm MacDonald tell a joke about a moth!

9.09.2009

Page XX Comic #26

'Time and Punishment' Look it up. I'll wait.

Funny little story: I got something wrong in this strip, realized it just as I finished, and I'm not going to fix it. Burn obsessive impulses, BURN!

More seriously, for some reason my hand was getting very tired as I finished this one so I hope the lettering comes out legible.

9.08.2009

Page XX Comic #25

'And this one, Sir, is for that shockingly bad hat you wore for a month.' *STAB*

Trust Jeeves to make sure things turn out best for everyone. Of course I have a friend who compares me to Wooster, so perhaps I should be careful.

Page XX Comic #24

Replace random gamer with Wil Wheaton and I'm sold.

I couldn't resist.

UPDATE: So apparently, without me knowing it, the two Travel Channel show hosts I mention in this comic were in my area just few days ago taking part in an athletic even that was like a triathlon but with 4 parts: swimming, biking, running, and doughnut eating.

Sometimes truth is much stranger than fiction.

Thing To Fix

I realize the last two days my updates have technically come in the whee hours of the next day. I'm going to work on that. It has as much to do with me getting to bed at a decent hour as anything else.

9.06.2009

The Project's Eventual Form

So I'm not sure how long I can keep up a comic every day, but don't want to just one day burn out and stop.

I'm thinking that I want to aim at at least 30 days in a row, perhaps even 50 (though we'll see), and then hit one-a-week. Of course, then I'd be worried that the actual comics wouldn't be any better... just coming less frequently.

I'm sort of up in the air on it, but I totally want to keep going indefinitely. It's a good creative work-out and hopefully somewhat entertaining (I've gotten a few little comments that totally made my day).

Page XX Comic #23

'I'm like the Wolverine of Debt Collection.'

Page XX Comic #22

'Oh, didn't I mention? It's on the third floor.'

Seriously.

A heck of alot more interesting than most of the stuff in the text books.

HBO rocks.

EDIT: That hat is not an attempt to be XKCD guy. That's me trying to draw Dan Dority.

I hope to have a little gamer of my own some day.

And, yes, three comics today with three more tomorrow.

Two in one day?

Oh no. More than that...

Strap yourself in!

Take us to your leader, indeed.

Moving 2: Electric... Never Mind

Will this be the end of me keeping even on the days/comics scales? It might be.

Only just finished moving, for real, this morning and am now unpacking.

I might have to go 2-a-day for a few. I won't be beat!

8.28.2009

Moving

I am beat to hell from moving.

Expect another 2 tomorrow.

Let's just say I had this thought more than once.

Vampire LARPs can pop up just about anywhere, at any time. Be wary.

Update

Missed yesterday due to bad timing.

Prepare for 2 incoming today.

That's right, more gaming. This time, yes, I stole the basic idea behind Goofus and Gallant from Highlights Magazine.

My second attempt. This time, it's for gamers of the roleplaying tabletop variety. Enjoy!

Page XX Comic: An Introduction and Test

I don't when or if anyone might eventually care to read this, and so like many projects I'm setting out to do this for myself as much as anything else. Every day I will be attempting to either draw a complete "comic"* or one page of script for a comic** and I will post the results here.

The hope is that I will slowly improve my drawing/visual storytelling with the comics and keep in practice with the writing. Look for various changes to the page as I repurpose and further customize an unused blog that never met its full potential.

The first bit was the result of struggling to come up with an idea I could commit to paper on the spot and getting somewhat stuck; the result is a stick figure comic strip that would only really make sense to law students and might not be funny to anyone.***

Page XX - First

Look forward to many similar adventures in humor and poor art, although I obviously hope to improve in just about every way.

Enjoy!

*- The scare quotes there just because I feel the efforts will often be worthy of self-deprecation.
**- Here meaning a comic book project I'm trying to get some momentum on.
***- In this case, Blackacre is pretty much the default "bit of land" stand-in in Property Law classes and "O the Owner" is the even more common name for the original owner of that property. Yes, I'm aware that explaining jokes ruins them.
